Minnesota has announced the hiring of Minneapolis native and Colorado State coach Niko Medved as its next men's basketball coach. Medved's season ended Sunday as the Rams lost at the buzzer to 4-seed Maryland.

Ben Johnson had served as Minnesota coach since 2021-22 but was unable to return the Gophers to the NCAA tournament.
