Hidalgo, Westbeld combine for 37 points, lead No. 19 Notre Dame women past Boston College 79-55
Notre Dame made only 4 of 18 shots in the first quarter and fell behind 21-11 heading to the second period. The tide turned in the second 10 minutes as Boston College made 1 of 13 shots and was outscored 18-4. Notre Dame led 29-25 at halftime and kept the momentum rolling into the second half, outscoring Boston College 42-19 in the middle two quarters.
Hidalgo had seven rebounds, seven assists and four steals for Notre Dame. Westbeld hit 7 of 9 shots and grabbed six rebounds. Sonia Citron scored 16 and Anna DeWolfe 11 for the Fighting Irish (21-6, 11-5 ACC). Notre Dame was far from perfect, making only 3 of 20 3-pointers with Hidalgo and Citron both going 0 for 6. Boston College threatened briefly in the fourth quarter when a layup by Waggoner made it 59-49 with 5 1/2 minutes remaining. That was the last made shot for the Eagles and Notre Dame scored the next 13 points to put the game away.
