Javier Mascherano praises the "magnificent" Lionel Messi after Inter Miami's draw vs. New York City in MLS.

Inter Miami CF head coach Javier Mascherano has praised his team for its "soul" after it overcame a first-half red card to earn a draw against New York City FC at Chase Stadium on Saturday to kick off the 2025 MLS season.

Osman Bukari scored off a corner kick in the 77th minute and Austin FC opened its fifth MLS season with a 1-0 victory over visiting Sporting Kansas City on Saturday in the first game of the season for both clubs.

Tai Baribo scored two goals -- one in each half -- as the visiting Philadelphia Union opened the 2025 MLS season with a 4-2 win over Orlando City on Saturday.
