Kearney, Cox combine for 4 TDs and big-play Georgetown tops Davidson 46-24

The Hoyas broke open a close game with three touchdowns in the third quarter after Mason Gudger's 78-yard kickoff return to open the second half set up a 20-yard touchdown run by Kearney on the following play.

Georgetown added Quincy Briggs and a 23-yard touchdown run by Cox to take a 43-17 lead into the fourth.

Georgetown also had touchdown runs of 23 yards by Kearney and 59 yards by Cox. The Hoyas totaled 263 yards rushing on 27 attempts; 9.7 yards per carry.

Georgetown's Danny Lauter completed 9 of 16 passes for 106 yards.

After being as close as 19-17 midway through the second, Davidson did not score again until Andrew Frazier's 7-yard run with 1:55 remaining in the game.

The Wildcats had 224 yards rushing on 57 attempts, led by Mari Adams with 48 yards.

Georgetown has won six of the past seven matchups against Davidson and leads their all-time series 10-4.

On Sept. 7, Georgetown visits Marist and Davidson hosts Catawba.
