Ty'Jarian Williams connected with Cameron Nelson for a 24-yard touchdown to get Mississippi Valley State (0-9, 0-5) within a point with 1:47 remaining. Williams hit Nelson on the two-point try, but the Delta Devils were called for holding. They fumbled on the next play and the Panthers ran out the clock.
Prairie View A&M scored first when Guillermo Garcia Rodriguez kicked a 46-yard field goal with 9:27 left in the second quarter and the Panthers carried the 3-0 advantage into halftime.
Marko Jovisic — who missed three tries from closer range — kicked a 51-yarder that tied the game at 3 with 9:30 remaining in the third quarter.
