Harris, on third-and-13, took a hand off and ran off left tackle, eluding a would-be tackler near midfield and racing the rest of the way untouched for a 63-yard touchdown on East Carolina's first possession of the second half. Jake Garcia hit Chase Sowell for the 2-point conversion to make it 14-7 with 10:42 left in the third quarter.

ECU's Julien Davis recovered a fumble on the ensuing kickoff and, after the Pirates went three-and-out, Conrad converted from 33-yards out to make it 17-7 about a minute later.

Wilson completed 18 of 32 passes for 182 yards with a touchdown and an interception for Old Dominion (0-2). Aaron Young had 25 carries for 89 yards, including a 1-yard touchdown that cut the Monarchs deficit to 17-14 late in the third quarter

Conrad kicked a 50-yard field goal with 9:09 remaining.

Harris opened the scoring with a 22-yard TD run that capped a 10-play, 80-yard opening drive and ECU (2-0) led 6-0 after Conrad missed the PAT attempt. Jahron Manning picked off a pass and returned it 45 yards and, after a holding penalty made it first-and-20, Grant Wilson was flushed from the pocket before he threw a 44-yard touchdown pass to Kelby Williams that gave Old Dominion a 7-6 lead with 11 minutes left in the second quarter.
