Zellous completed 20 of 25 passes for 185 yards and added 60 yards rushing on seven carries for Hampton (2-1).
Norfolk State (1-3), which beat Division-II Virginia State 28-23 last time out, is winless in three games against D-I (FBS or FCS) opponents by a cumulative score of 103-33.
Hampton took the opening kickoff and chewed more than 8 minutes off the clock with a 20-play, 75-yard drive but, despite and 3-yard run by Robinson on fourth-and-2 from the 4, settled for a 22-yard field goal by Brian Csehoski. Norfolk State went three-and-out on the ensuing drive and following a 17-yard punt by Noah Tracey, the Pirates went 43 yards in nine plays to take a 9-0 lead after a Zellous scored on a 3-yard run and Csehoski missed the PAT attempt in the closing seconds of the first quarter.
Robinson scored on 2-yard runs in the second and third quarters and Zellous added a 1-yard TD on a QB sneak that made it 30-0 with 2 seconds left in the third quarter.
After a roughing the passer penalty negated a Hampton interception and kept a Norfolk State drive alive, Jalen Daniels threw a 26-yard touchdown pass to Jahee Blake to get the Spartans on the scoreboard with about 10 mintues to play.
Malcolm Mays, who replaced Zellous in the fourth quarter and finished 5-of-5 passing for 54 yards, capped the scoring when he threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to Christian Greenlaw with 1:17 remaining.
