Smith leads Charleston past Towson 61-56 in semifinals of Coastal Athletic Association Tournament
It was the ninth victory in a row for the Cougars, who will battle for their second straight CAA title on Tuesday.
Smith also contributed five rebounds for the Cougars (26-7). Bryce Butler shot 5 of 9 from the field and 2 for 3 from the line to add 13 points. Frankie Policelli shot 3 for 7 (1 for 5 from 3-point range) and 3 of 4 from the free-throw line to finish with 10 points.
The Tigers (20-14 were led in scoring by Tyler Tejada, who finished with 16 points. Charles Thompson added 14 points, six rebounds and three blocks for Towson. Dylan Williamson finished with 13 points.
Smith scored 11 points in the first half for Charleston, who led 31-30 at halftime. Kobe Rodgers put up nine points in the second half.
