The games, players and newcomers we're most excited to watch next season
Our reporters preview the 2025 season and break down everything they're excited to watch.
Sources: Clemson is set to hire longtime college head coach Mike Houston to work with the defensive staff there. Houston won an FCS national title as the coach at James Madison and spent six seasons as the head coach at East Carolina.
Houston is a North Carolina native with deep ties in the Carolinas, as he’s been the head coach at The Citadel and Lenoir-Rhyne. He’ll assist new defensive coordinator Tom Allen, who just arrived from Penn State.
Sources: Clemson football is hiring veteran NFL talent evaluator Kevin Kelly of the Los Angeles Chargers as the program’s new director of player evaluation and acquisition. He’s agreed to a two-year deal at $360,000 per year, which is being finalized today. Kelly is the Chargers' senior scouting executive and has worked there since 2013. The move shows Clemson football’s continued evolution. Kelly will work alongside current Clemson GM Jordan Sorrells.
